I’m going to be honest with you AI used to scare me.
I kept hearing things like “AI is replacing jobs,” “coding will be done by machines,” and “you need to learn a new skill every 6 months or you’ll fall behind.” It was overwhelming. I’m not from a tech background, and the thought of keeping up with all these changes felt impossible.
But then, I listened to a podcast by Vaibhav Sisinty, the founder of Roz School and something just clicked. He broke down the entire concept of becoming an “AI Generalist,” and for the first time, I didn’t feel lost. I felt… excited.
So in this post, I want to share my takeaways from that episode from one beginner to another. Because honestly, if I can start learning AI at 28, so can you.
The Harsh Truth: AI Is Changing Everything

Vaibhav shared a stat that honestly shook me. The placement rate for engineers in India dropped from 10% to 6%. Why? Because AI is automating everything.
Companies are using AI agents to:
- Replace pre-sales teams
- Handle customer support
- Automate marketing and outreach
In fact, Vaibhav’s company replaced a 40-person pre-sales team with just one AI agent that replies to leads faster and better.
“The programming language of the future is English.”
Meaning: You don’t need to be a coder. You just need to be good at talking to AI and telling it what to do aka, prompt engineering.
So, What’s an AI Generalist?
It’s someone who knows how to use AI to solve problems whether it’s in sales, marketing, writing, design, or development.
In the near future, 80% of roles will be generalists, not specialists. You won’t need to be an expert coder or a senior-level engineer. You just need to know how to use the right AI tool at the right time.
That gave me a lot of hope. Because I’ve always been curious and creative I just didn’t know where to channel it. Now I do.
My Roadmap: How I’m Becoming an AI Generalist (One Level at a Time)

Here’s the 5-step roadmap from Vaibhav that I’ve started following and honestly, I think it can work for anyone.
Level 0: Play with AI

This is where I started. No pressure, no courses. Just exploring.
I tried out:
- ChatGPT
- Google Gemini
- Claude
I even searched “There’s an AI for that” and found crazy tools I never knew existed. This stage helped me stop feeling afraid and start feeling curious.
Level 1: Understand How AI Thinks

Next, I started learning how Large Language Models (LLMs) actually work. Not the PhD version just basic stuff.
I explored:
- Prompting techniques
- Tools like OpenAI Playground
- Model settings like temperature, token limits, etc.
I realized that writing great prompts is an actual skill.
Level 2: Go Beyond Text (Images, Audio, Video)
This is where things got really fun.
I played with:
- Stable Diffusion for images
- RunwayML for video generation
- ElevenLabs for AI voice cloning
The possibilities are wild. I even generated a thumbnail idea for one of my blog posts using AI and it looked better than anything I could’ve done on Canva.
Level 3: Build Stuff Without Coding

You don’t need to be a software engineer to build tools anymore.
I’ve started experimenting with:
- Vzy to build websites
Even if you’re a freelancer or creator, you can build mini-products like caption generators or podcast clip sorters just by plugging AI into tools. This is where the magic happens.
Level 4: Build AI Agents
This part blew my mind.
- Attends Zoom meetings
- Takes notes
- Handles schedules
They used tools like:
- Make.com
- Lindy AI
- Zapier
- Relevance AI
This is the future: 20% human team, 80% AI agents. And those who can build or manage those agents?
Final Thoughts: You Don’t Have to Be an Expert You Just Have to Be Curious
I’m not learning AI to become some genius developer. I’m learning it so I can stay relevant, grow my income, and build cool things that make life easier.
If you’re scared, overwhelmed, or just unsure where to start I get it. I was in the exact same spot.
But trust me: the worst thing you can do right now is ignore it.
Start with one tool. Watch one tutorial. Play around for 15 minutes. That’s how every journey starts.
